The line between menswear and womenswear has tremendously blurred over the years, which allows every individual to fully embrace fashion beyond the walls of gender.  Fashion androgyny has become a phenomenal trend  that also became a style genre of its own! This coming holiday season, the fashion world’s most renowned designers have crafted pieces that celebrate inclusivity and individuality like never before. Yet another proof that style knows no gender!

As the year nearly comes to a close and parties and festivities are happening back to back, it’s only high time that we start planning our holiday outfits. Keep on reading to see some of what I have curated on androgynous fashion that will surely look exquisite for all genders.

Balenciaga Spring 2025

Power Suits with a Festive Fashion Androgyny Edge

What’s more androgynous than a  power sui t?! It’s a fashion invention that transcends genders, which is also why it has become a wardrobe staple for every fashion enthusiast out there. Gucci, Tom Ford, and Saint Laurent have mastered the power suit craft, making them strong pillars in the scene of fashion androgyny. To give the classic power suit a holiday touch, you can incorporate accessories or go for jewel tones such as emerald or burgundy for additional flair.

Saint Laurent went full-on androgynous in its S/S 2025 Collection led by its Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello. The pantsuits were a grand feast and Bella Hadid as its returning muse made it ooze with more grandeur. Most ensembles didn’t speak much of a holiday vibe, but I spotted some that either come in jewel tones or are perfectly paired with metallic pieces.

Suits and blazers in asymmetrical cuts like this piece from  Off-White  can be a stunning piece for the holidays. Pair it with Tom Ford leather pants and you’re ready to rock your gender-neutral look for every holiday party you’ll go to before the year ends.

Glimmer Glamour

It’s easy for us to associate the holidays with everything sparkly — holidays and sparkles are pretty much synonymous at this point! Any designer wardrobe piece that glimmers under party lights gets an instant YES and this year’s collections from Versace, Balenciaga, and Dolce & Gabbana featured dazzling pieces that bend gender norms. If you’d like to stand out this holiday season, never tone your glitter down and let your blinding light shine!

Balenciaga’s standout houndstooth piece from Paris Fashion Week is nothing short of androgynous fairy dust. Every corner of that dress presents a glorious amount of shine, all while keeping the look gender-neutral through its stunning structure. Louis Vuitton also delivered high-octane glamour through its ensembles showcased during PFW as well. I spotted beaming details embellished on the clothes, plus layers of gemstone jewelry grazing over its clothing’s striking patterns.

Glitter and sparkles are not limited to one gender, it’s for everyone who wishes to shine bright. I’d say don’t skip your glimmer glamour this holiday season!

Bold and Experimental Layers

The art of layering lies beyond just mixing and matching your pieces to create depth. It’s by crafting and engineering your combinations to express a distinctive look like no other. Fashion androgyny is all about pushing boundaries and individuality, so what better way there is than to bring your identity through the layers of your holiday outfit?

The way Louis Vuitton enamored us with its unexpected combinations truly spoke of its global charm. One from PFW’s Spring 2025 show featured soft drapes of outerwear fabric layered over an asymmetrical tulle. What made the look gender-bending was the way the embellished crop pants were placed plus the layered long necklaces that intensified the look further. A total fashion inspiration!

The secret of bold and experimental layering is about balancing structured and flowy pieces by opting for the best fabric. The goal is to create visual interest by drawing the visuals in unpredictable yet harmonious directions.  Bottega Veneta  Acne Studios , and  Balenciaga  are also worth mentioning in terms of experimental layers.

Rugged Fabrics and Holiday Colors

Denim for the holidays? Why not! Rugged fabrics such as leather and denim will never go out of style and they have this certain edgy charm that knows no season or gender. If you’re aiming for an edgy, street-style vibe aesthetic, then you’ll love rinse-washed denim pieces like the ensemble I spotted during the  Balenciaga  show in Paris. A coordinated denim outfit can be a cool holiday look that embraces fashion androgyny. You can also opt for denim layers by working around your choice of cuts and fabrics to seamlessly blend with your denim outfit.

Beyond rugged fabrics, you can also inject a more festive vibe into your androgynous high-fashion ensembles through colors. Vibrant holiday hues like cherry red, gold, and neon can give your holiday outfit a livelier take. Sure, you can never go wrong with neutrals as they will always succeed in making you look timeless and classy. But let’s say you want to spice things up a bit since you have every excuse to do so, then don’t hesitate to grab colors that induce a visual feast — I mean, it’s the holidays, come on! You can either get adventurous by combining striking colors or go for one bright shade and channel a monochromatic look. This will give a fancier twist to traditional holiday colors while not having to confine your choice of color to your gender.

The Wrap Up

Fashion androgyny brings a liberating approach to this festive season’s choice of dressing. To wear clothing that doesn’t confine you to a certain identity is a powerful fashion statement! Whether it’s design, color, embellishments, or brand, limiting fashion wear is a thing of the past.

Planning your holiday outfits is a way to create your own fashion runway. Mix, match, and experiment without limits to fully allow yourself to create looks that speak deeply into your soul.

Fashion androgyny embraces styles that transcend traditional gender norms, perfect for holiday outfits.

Power suits, metallics, and bold layering are key elements for gender-neutral festive looks.

Rugged fabrics like denim and leather, paired with vibrant holiday colors, add edgy charm to any outfit.
