The world of fashion thrives like no other in the cozy amber season of fall — no wonder why September is a very important time in fashion. With this said, the fall/winter runways are way too much of a visual feast, and this time, I’ll dive in more specifically on menswear. The menswear fashion scene is undergoing a riveting transformation of its own and the apparent dominance of sleek silhouettes and contemporary designs are undeniably visible on the runway.

As I scour through the looks on the runway from fashion houses like Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Louboutin, and Prada, to Gucci, I’ve spotted trends that not only men but people of all genders, will absolutely appreciate. Prepping your edgy wardrobe for the fall and winter season? Here are the coolest menswear fashion trends you need your closet to embrace — from classic suits (but with a twist) to leveled-up monochromes.

Dolce & Gabbana Menswear F/W 2024

Suits on Default

Is it even possible for suits to go out of style!? Suits have defined menswear for decades and they sure won’t go out of fashion anytime soon (or ever!). For Fall 2024, the classic suit is gloriously reimagined for the modern man, with Prada taking the lead, it’s no surprise that the modernized structure of this season’s suits remains impeccably crafted.

Dolce & Gabbana also left everyone fascinated with its menswear lineup, which of course featured suits that have distinct facets that brought the 1800s fashion and the amorous Italian gentleman to marriage. It’s sophisticated on its own, but with the modern man becoming more and more adventurous with their ensembles, suits are also worn with so much versatility. Think of jeans, trainers, and tank tops as popular pairings for the classic formal suit. Mesmerizing, isn’t it? Soft-shouldered, slightly cropped, and very luxurious fabrics — how are these not enough reasons to embrace the Fall 2024 version of the suit trend?

High-fashion Athleisure

Let’s not talk about sweatpants and hoodies right here. Fall 2024 is all about elevated athleisure, or rather than “elevated”, let’s just say edgy and high fashion. It’s the kind of athleisure trend that doesn’t make you look like you’re about to head to the gym, but is more of something that gets everybody looking! Toned-down, monotonous athleisure pieces are so yesteryear — the menswear scene of fall 2024 is more on colors, tailored fitting, and androgyny. Gucci’s Menswear Fall 2024 collection has set the tone for this year’s athleisure trend and as soon as it graced the runways, fashion icons and celebrities couldn’t keep their hands still and just had to be in these ensembles!

Tracksuits that come in luxe fabrics and jackets in electric colors are the key looks I’ve spotted on the runway, not just Gucci but also Loewe and Kenzo. Christian Louboutin’s 2024 collection of men’s shoes is also a visual delight, bringing the usual sneakers a dimmer light. This redefinition of the athleisure trend is sure as pleasing as it is intriguing!

Oversized Silhouettes

Every designer that showcased their F/W collections in this year’s runway gave the oversized silhouette its much-deserved spotlight. Its domination is evident — from suits, and trench coats to bottoms. No wonder the oversized silhouette made it to this year’s coolest fall trends! It sure is about comfort and ease, but more than these, the voluminous silhouette brings a sense of edge while maintaining the beauty of nonchalance

I personally love Dolce & Gabbana’s take on this, as well as Balmain and Louis Vuitton, because of how sleek the tailoring is. Gucci's oversized vest is also a total charm! It’s huge, but not slouchy, so it still gives a sharp look despite donning an oversized fit. The key is all about the intricate craftsmanship and lavish fabric structure!

Ecstatic Monochromes

Black, white, gray, brown — monochromatic neutrals will always be a foolproof fashion choice and no one can really argue with that. But this year, the runways made monochromatic ensembles even fancier by injecting more vibrancy in every look. Think of neons and pastels and have your entire outfit share this same color palette! A bit flashy and risky? Sure. But the monochromatic touch is more than just a safe sartorial choice, regardless of which hue you choose to embrace.

This year’s monochrome trend is more about uniqueness and freedom to experiment so while the classic neutral colors will never cease to be a quick go-to choice, you can freely steer away from this and not feel out of trend! Gucci and Fendi’s menswear looks on their F/W 2024 collections pioneered this funky monochrome trend and if you browse through more of their ensembles, you’ll see how these fashion moguls perfectly encapsulated this trend.

The Wrap Up

An absolute celebration of fashion and individuality — this is the language that menswear fashion of fall 2024 had spoken and fashion houses like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and Gucci translated this season’s trends like no other. The looks we spotted on the runway are a reflection of the diverse and bold approach of menswear; away from the conventional ones we’re all used to seeing. From redefined suits to ecstatic monochromes, these trends are meant to push boundaries and let men explore their personal style outside of their comfort zone.

These four fall trends are sure to conquer 2024's fashion scene. Here's a quick recap:

  • Classic Suits
  • High-fashion Athleisure
  • Oversized Silhouettes
  • Vibrant Monochromes

There’s definitely a resurgence of classic trends, but as they are incorporated with modernized designs and artistic precision, they have become incredibly different than their previous versions. The blur between formal and casual and conventional and contemporary has become more faded, allowing your inner fashion icon to create its own rules.
